Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a manual therapy technique used to treat swelling, scar tissue, tissue congestion and inflammation. It can also be beneficial for promoting healing at the cellular level.

During a lymphatic drainage treatment the therapist uses specific manual movements that stimulate the structures of the lymphatic system. This encourages lymph to flow and drain through the body’s lymphatic vessel pathways and lymph nodes.

It feels gentle, light, and rhythmic and can induce a deep state of relaxation.

Lymphatic Drainage can be used to treat a variety of health conditions, as well as promoting maintenance of good health.

At The Nest we commonly use lymphatic drainage to treat:

  • pre and post surgical procedures (cesarean sections, breast/chest surgeries, abdominal surgeries, orthopaedic or other surgeries)
  • Breast health (mastitis, breast congestion, post-mastectomy care, fibrous breast tissue, general breast health, mastitis)
  • Postpartum care
  • Stress
  • Concussion
  • Post traumatic head injury
  • Whiplash
  • Acute Injuries
  • Sinus issues
  • Skin conditions (eczema, acne, general health)
  • Digestive conditions
  • Joint conditions
  • Venous conditions
  • Chronic inflammation
